Boise Planning and Zoning to continue public testimony for Interfaith; no vote taken

Boise's Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing Monday evening for Interfaith Sanctuary's request for a conditional use permit to operate a shelter on State Street.

It was a full house with over 200 people who signed up to give testimonials. For hours, people lined up to voice their opinions -- some for and others against the proposal.

The commission did not take any action and there was no vote.

"All of us are here for safety issues," one person said. "Issues that have not been addressed. Security plans."

"The fact the interfaith might move to my home will definitely bring change but these changes give us an opportunity to care for the most vulnerable in our community.”

The commission will likely not vote on the permit -- due to the lengthy amount of testimony provided Monday night.

The next hearing will be scheduled for the week of Dec. 13. Those who spoke on Monday will not be able to speak next week.
