LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. (TND) — Two married teachers are no longer employed within an Arizona school district after explicit content was filmed on school grounds and shared to social media.
Samantha Peer, formerly a Lake Havasu Unified School District (LHUSD) teacher, created an OnlyFans account at the beginning of the summer. OnlyFans is a subscription-based platform where users can sell and purchase pornographic content.
In a video statement shared to Facebook, the former middle school science teacher called it a way to "earn extra money on the side" to pay for "basic necessities." Peer admits at least one video was filmed inside a LHUSD classroom.
"It got to a point where our family was not able to survive on our two teacher incomes," Peer said, adding that she was picking up extra district responsibilities to "make ends meet." Peer and her husband, Dillon, formerly a long-term elementary school substitute teacher, have two children.
It appears that the content, at times, featured both educators.
Peer was placed on paid administrative leave and probation in late October after a parent raised concerns over the explicit content to both LHUSD and police. It is not immediately clear how the parent came across the account.
While an investigation took place, Peer's husband was also placed on paid administrative leave before ultimately being terminated due to his at-will contract.
Peer claims the OnlyFans account, operating under the alias Khloe Karter, was blocked from "the entire state of Arizona." However, students were eventually able to track it down and share explicit images amongst themselves. Families were notified of this in an email sent by Thunderbolt Middle School administration on Nov. 7, according to Today's News Herald.
"Students were never aware of my social medias, nor did they follow me until after I resigned from the district on October 31st and went locally viral on November 6th," Peer said. She says the link to her OnlyFans did not become available on her personal social media accounts until after that.
Peer claims she is now being "harassed" and "intimidated" by members of the community, with some sharing her home address online and threatening to show her children "revenge porn." Her local gym membership was severed after school parents told the gym they would cancel their own if Peer was still welcomed.
"Looking back at the situation, I wholly regret creating the video in the classroom after school hours," Peer said, "But I felt trapped in my financial situation, and I felt that this was the only way my family would be able to survive."
Arizona is ranked 49th nationally for starting teacher salaries, and has one of the lowest overall salary averages, according to the National Education Association.
