$2 billion or nothing: Max Homas controversial views on LIV Golf and OWGR fight

From all the criticism of his selection to being the star for the US, Max Homa is having a dream debut at the Presidents Cup 2022 so far. Expected to deliver, Homa did not disappoint as he came up with a win for his side on Friday, at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The American golfer who recently captured his fifth PGA Tour at Fortinet Championship in California has been in great form lately, slowly climbing up the ladder to becoming a big name on the tour.

And as he continues to star for his country, questions on his links with the rival series LIV are bound to come up, on which the golfer was quick to wash off the rumors, joking that he would take” $2 billion or nothing” to join the cash-rich league and that he plans to continue with PGA Tour.

Max Homa’s controversial views on LIV Series

However, it was his stand on the LIV’s fight for World Ranking Points that surprised everyone. Apparently around 48 LIV golfers wrote a letter to the Official World Golf Rankings governing body demanding their place in the ranking points systems. Max, ranked 20th currently allegedly supported his fellow Golfers, saying that it would only be fair but the final it’s up to OWGR.

I think it’s up to the OWGR. I don’t think it’s up to an opinion. I was thinking about this the other day. If us four went out, and we’re four very good golfers, we went out and played, that’s four great golfers. We’ve got 48 of them in my home club, and I put on a golf tournament. Do we get World Ranking points?” quipped Homa, talking about the rather sensitive situation.

“If the OWGR decides they get World Ranking points, that’s great. I have no problem with them getting ranking points. To my eye, it seems like they should get World Ranking points. You can’t just say we should get them.”

“You can’t just say, as I read on Instagram, the number one and two best players in the world competed against each other, great. That’s what the thing’s for,” concluded the golfer.
